In exclusive interviews with Fox News Digital, Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashchyan and Azerbaijan President Ilhem Aliyev described the American broker A peaceful deal As a “historical” opportunity, it will end more than three decades of conflicts and start a new era of cooperation in the South Caucasus.
Speaking separately, both leaders attributed the former president Donald Trump And the US Special Messenger Steve Witcooff for the governing months of the negotiations that brought the framework agreement.
They outlined plans for trade, infrastructure and investment, recognizing that key political and humanitarian problems can still be solved before the transaction is completed.

Aliyev said that the agreement could not be officially signed until Armenia is submitted to the Constitution, which he said, the issues of Azerbaijani sovereignty.
“It’s a homework,” Aliyev said. “Once this is done … the final peace agreement will be signed.”
Pashinian rejected this condition, insisting that Armenia is already seeking to respect territorial integrity and has no “territorial claims” to any neighbor. He confirmed that his government is a new constitution, but called it a “internal issue” not related to peaceful conditions.
One of the central pillars of the transaction is the creation of the “Trump corridor” or Trump for international peace and well -being, transport and trade route intended for the connection of Armenia and Azerbaijan more directly when integrating the South Caucasus into extensive international delivery networks and energy networks.
Aliyev called the project “one of the important parts of international transport”, saying that he would connect the Caspian region of the maritime region with markets in Europe, The Middle East And Asia. The corridor is expected to carry goods, energy reserves and potentially serve as a railway center for inter -regional trade.
Pashinyan described the open communication agreement “On the basis of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity and internationally recognized borders” as a breakthrough.
“Now we have the virtually peace … It’s time to have common investment projects, have economic cooperation,” he said. “The US participation will make this story even more attractive to potential investors.”

The status of refugees and detainees from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved. Tens of thousands of ethnic Armenians escaped from the region after Azerbaijan returned control in the 2020 war and the 2023 military operation. Many moved in Armenia, but the disputes continue for the right to return, the demands of property and the fate of those who were stuck during and after the fighting.
Azerbaijan claims that prisoners under his care are participants in hostilities or saboteurs, while Armenia and international human rights groups describe many of them as political prisoners. Pashinian warned that raising “very sensitive questions” could take the risk too aggressively to restore tension.
“The problem of refugees is important, but we need to focus on signing a peace agreement … You know that some very sensitive issues can revive the conflict, and I believe it is very important for Armenia and Azerbaijan to focus on implementing what has already been agreed.”
From conversation to tactics: Trump turns to Russia’s strategy to end the war
“It was only President Trump … He immediately jumped into the process (peace),” said Aliyev, adding that if Trump remained after the 2020 elections, “probably what we are experiencing today … (would have happened) earlier.” (Reuters/Kevin Lamarque)
Aliyev praised Trump’s direct participation in the peace process and criticized what he called unfair portraits of Azerbaijan under the Baden administration. He pointed to Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the US military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and said Trump’s return to active diplomacy made a breakthrough.
“It was only President Trump … He immediately jumped into the process (peace),” said Aliyev, adding that if Trump remained after the 2020 elections, “probably what we are experiencing today … (would have happened) earlier.”
The interview happened a few hours after Pashin and Aliyev joined Trump in the White House to announce an agreement – a rare moment of public unity in the region, which has long been determined by war, blockages and distrust.

While the frame creates the basis for a normalized relationship, both leaders have acknowledged that the decades of hostility would not disappear over the night. “It is impossible to change everything throughout the day, week or even years,” Pashinyan said. “But this is a very bright expression that we want – both leaders, President Aliyev and I – we want to change the whole situation.”
For Trump, the event noted a high -profile example of its powers that produce transactions on the world stage. For Armenia and Azerbaijan, this was a step towards the future, which both say they are ready to build – if the rest of the disputes can be resolved.
