Apple’s next major iPhone update will include a new model called the iPhone 17 Air, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
This seems like an obvious way to expand the line, given Apple’s success with the Air moniker for thinner MacBooks and iPads (I’m currently typing these words on my MacBook Air), and it could be more attractive than the iPhone Plus or mini .
Gurman writes that the iPhone 17 Air will include Apple’s first in-house modem, which is said to debut in the new iPhone SE in the spring. The phone is also supposed to be Apple’s thinnest smartphone – two millimeters thinner than the current iPhones. So it represents a step towards the foldable iPhone and iPad that the company was developed for 2026 or later.
Gurman also lists other Apple products that he expects to launch in 2025, including a smart home hub. Not on the list: A new version of the company’s mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro.
