Anthony Joshua’s comeback plans are finally clear. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, former heavy two -time champion is more likely to return to ring January or February 2026with ongoing conversations for a blockbuster site agreement in Ghana. Hearn also confirmed that Joshua’s next departure would serve as a “warm -up” before the Grand Roll of the Dice, ideally against Tyson Fury, but otherwise, another heavy weight of the first five places.
Hearn admitted that the full December date is out of the table: “As time goes on, we are more likely to see (Anthony Joshua) back to the ring for a date of January/February if I am honest. I do not think there is any value that says it will be in December.”
Joshua has again formed after the elbow surgery, but the intrigue is at the place where its return will take place. “It was well published on the meetings that took place in Ghana for the last two weeks,” Hearn said. “There has been an offer to make a fight and I think it would be incredible to fight in Africa. However, when making offers of places, it depends on when the host wants to stage the show.”
Hearn was clear about the roadmap: “I don’t think there is a hurry, though he has been out of the ring for almost a year. Any struggle below, but it is likely to be a warming struggle for this struggle” shooting the dice “.
And that roll of the dice? Tyson Fury. “We hope, in an ideal world, is Tyson Fury. If not, it will be against one of the first five pesos.”
Hearn doubled: “Each AJ event is a massive event … These big fights require time. A victory by 2026 establishes this blockbuster and knows it.”
My dam: Joshua still sells entrances and still commands world stages: Africa would be historic. But fans are restless. They do not want another easy night; They want Jeopardy. If in 2026 it opens with a tune, summer must deliver Fury, Wilder or Usyk III. Anything else, and the AJ superstar rises to go down for good.
