The 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist, Andy Cruz (5-0, 2 kos), will fight against Hironori Mishiro (17-1-1, 6 kos) in a light-title IBF title eliminator on Richardson Hitchins vs. George Kamboses Jr. The event will be displayed Live in Dazn.
Cruz-Mishiro’s struggle winner could end Raymond Muratalla if he has been elevated to the full champion, if the current IBF champion, Vasily Lomachenko, decides to retire instead of returning. Since Cruz is talented and that he is not one of the first rank fighters, Muratalla will probably wait a year or more before he defends himself against him.
The first range promotes Muratalla and they will not want to lose the IBF immediately to Cruz in a paid struggle. They will expand it as long as possible and will try to configure more lucrative parties against Gervonta Davis, Keyshawn Davis or Abdullah Mason.
Protect Shakur from Cruz
Interestingly, promoter Eddie Hearn is positioning Andy Cruz towards the title of IBF instead of WBC belt that Fighter Matchroom Fighter had Shakur Stevenson. Cruz is in place 1 of WBC and #3 IBF. The idea is to protect Shakur enough for enough time to get the great fight against money against the WBA champion, Gervonta Davis.
If Hearn struggled with Shakur against Cruz, Newark’s native, New Jersey, he would probably lose. This would permanently lead to their chances of fighting the tank. He is smart, but still seems bad that Stevenson is safegued from being hit by the most talented Cruz. It’s business.
Cruz has been calling Keyshawn Davis constantly since he became a professional in 2023, but without luck. Now that Keyshawn has captured the Wbo title of Higher Fighting Company Denys Berinchyk, there is even less interest in facing Cruz.
