The dismissal came in the 5th innings of the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval. Jason Behrendorff threw a backhand delivery to Jake Weatherald, who tried to throw it to half. However, Tye had other plans, having positioned himself perfectly in the middle.
In an impressive display of athleticism and reflexes, Andrew Tye made an incredible leap at half-off, extending his right hand to catch the ball out of the air. Tye landed safely with the ball in hand, catching the ball to complete the spectacular catch to secure Weatherald’s out.
Jake Weatherald’s aggressive shot attempt resulted in his dismissal for 8 runs off 8 balls, with a boundary to his name. However, it was Andrew Tye’s remarkable efforts that stole the show in the first innings of the BBL 2024-25 clash despite being an expensive bowler for the Perth Scorchers.

The Australian pacer conceded 46 runs in his four overs and managed just one cover, but Jhye Richardson’s three-cover haul and the combined efforts of Jason Behrendorff (2/14) and Lance Morris (2/19) they helped the Scorchers to restrict the Strikers to 142. /8 at the Adelaide Oval.
Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Match Highlights
The Adelaide Strikers faced a difficult start, 58 for 8 at home. However, a resilient ninth-wicket partnership of 84* runs between Cameron John Boyce (29* off 22 balls) and Brendan Doggett (47* off 39 balls) helped them post a competitive total of 142/8 in 20 overs.
Perth’s chase got off to a poor start, losing Matty Hurst and Aaron Hardie early, both dismissed for 2 runs by Henry Thornton. However, Finn Allen and Josh Connolly revived the innings with aggressive batting. Connolly’s unbeaten 48 off 35 balls kept the chase on track.

Allen and Connolly shared an 84-run partnership, and after Allen’s dismissal for 50, Connolly continued with Ashton Turner, who scored 35 off 18 balls. The pair added 57 runs, helping Perth chase down the target in just 15 overs, defeating Adelaide Strikers by seven wickets in the 2024-25 BBL clash. It was the third consecutive defeat for the Strikers in the ongoing BBL 2024-25.
After winning the Man of the Match award, Cooper Connolly said: “They bowled really well. We were happy at the halfway mark. It was nice to get some runs. We were hoping Allen would get runs. Nice to contribute like that. It’s a team game at first. We’ll be at home for a couple of games.”
