Andi Dorfman under “fast/safe procedure” in hospital less than a week after giving birth.
“Well, we’re back! This time for Mama (minor obstruction and needing a quick/safe procedure) but had a quick cuddle with this little nugget first,” wrote Dorfman, 37, via Instagram Story on Saturday, December 28, sharing a hospital selfie with to a little girl.
She added, “Lesson Learned: No matter how clueless you are about motherhood, you still know your body best! Listen to it! Yes, recovery is hard and everyone is different but your instincts are valid (and probably right). “
The old Bachelorette she gave birth to her daughter Harper Bell on December 20, her first baby with her husband Blaine Hart. After they were released from the labor and delivery ward, Dorfman began to experience “a ton of pain.”

“It was getting worse by the day,” he recalled on Saturday. “Despite the internet saying recovery takes y, I still felt something was wrong and finally after trying all home remedies, I called my doctors and they told me to come in .”
Dorfman was diagnosed with “one large hematoma and one small hematoma” that made her uncomfortable. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a hematoma is defined as a closed wound, where blood collects and fills a space inside your body because it cannot flow or drain out.

Courtesy of Andi Dorfman/Instagram“Within a few hours, we were at the hospital and prepping for surgery,” Dorfman wrote Saturday. “A very simple treatment but still quite a terminus to have a 6 day old baby, and loads of hormones still lurking.”
The former attorney further emphasized the importance of trusting “your body” and instincts when something feels off.

“Trust that your doctors really care about your health and well-being and don’t be afraid to reach out to them,” Dorfman concluded. “I felt some guilt worrying about myself instead of my daughter but I realized that she’s not good if I’m not good. Hopefully this will help anyone out there who is doubting their own postpartum recovery.”
Dorfman rose to fame on Juan Pablo Galavis‘ season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014, later becoming the next Bachelorette. On her term, Dorfman got engaged Josh Murray only to share within months. He later found love with Hart and they tied the knot in 2023. Dorfman announced in August that she was pregnant with the couple’s first baby.
“Introducing… Harper Bell Hart,” Dorfman wrote via Instagram on December 22. “Our sweet girl came into this world at a solid 7lbs 13oz and as tall as her Daddy at 20.5 inches! We are more in love with her than we could have ever imagined. I’m crying right there and then just looking at her and Dad is completely wrapped around her cute little finger.”
