“And had suicide thoughts”: Yuzvendra Chahal opens to divorce with Dhanashree Verma

Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra chahal He finally talked about his divorce of Dhanashree VermaOffering an honest account of the emotional and mental struggles he faced during this difficult phase of his life. The couple, who married for almost five years, officially ended their marriage after the Mumbai Supreme Court granted their divorce on March 20.

Talking to the Raj Shamani Podcast, Chahal admitted that he fought anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts in the last months of his marriage. He revealed that negativity on social media worsened his mental state and led him to take away from Cricket.

“I had anxiety attacks, I was in depression. I had suicide thoughts. I saw so many things about myself on social media. I wanted a cricket break. I started shaking for anxiety and sweating despite the CA was.” Chahal shared.

The Spinner also revealed that he applied for a break from his state cricket team during the Vijay Hazarear 2024-25 trophy to focus on his mental well-being.

Chahal also opened on what caused the breakdown of his marriage. He explained that, despite his efforts, he and Dhanashree were ultimately compatible, and his occupied professional life made it difficult to spend quality time together.

“ A relationship is like a commitment. If one gets angry, the other has to hear -sometimes, the nature of two people does not coincide. I was playing in India and it was also doing their things.We could not find -much for 1-2 years. Two ambitious people can live together, but everyone has their lives and goals.As a couple, they need to be supported. added Chahal.
