Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid after the final game of the league of the season and will take care of Brazil, according to widespread reports this afternoon.
The news was widely awaited with Madrid seemingly directing to a season without a trophy The defeat of Clasico 4-3 yesterday in Barcelona.
Barca, who also defeated Madrid in the final of the King Cup, is now seven clear points with only three games. Ancelotti was also helpless to prevent the title holders from surrendering their crown to Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
The 64-year-old Italian will leave Santiago Bernabeu as one of the club’s most successful directors after having brought them to 15 important trophies, including three crowns in the Champions League.
This season has been a significant disappointment, however. Kylian Mbapping’s signature last summer meant that he completed an impressive squad and helping them to keep their rule over Barcelona, which they enjoyed in 2023-24.
However, Barça have become stronger with the lamina Yamal growing prominent, while things did not click on the way Ancelotti would have wanted in the capital. They have been full of defense injuries: Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, both injuries that suffered the season at the beginning, while the midfield needed a renewal due to the retirement of Toni Kroos and the advanced years of Luka Modric.
Madrid has looked at regular intervals and Barcelona has regained its superiority.
If Madrid can fight again, it will fall on the shoulders of Xabi Alonso. The ex -Los Blancos migrants have confirmed that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season and that it is an open secret that Madrid will be his next destination.
As for Angelotti, his task will be to turn Brazil into contenders of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada next year.
He will start working with Selecao immediately after leaving Spain, which means he will be responsible for the June qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Ancelotti replaces Dorival Junior, who was sacked in March.
“Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to Brazil is more than a strategic measure,” said Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF.
“It is a statement to the world that we are determined to recover the first place of the podium. He is the largest coach in history and now runs the largest national team on the planet. Together, we will write new glorious chapters for Brazilian football.”
