Ancelotti recalls Casemiro and Antony in the first squad of Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti has named his first squad as coach of Brazil, delivering a memory to Casemiro.

Ancelotti was confirmed as a replacement for Dorival Junior on May 12, making it officially after the end of his second spell with Real Madrid last Saturday.

He will take office on June 5 in a classification of the World Cup with Ecuador A Guayaquil before Brazil welcomes Paraguay to São Paulo five days later, while seeking solidification of their grip in a place in the 2026 World Cup finals.

And when he named his squad for these games, Ancelotti has made his faith in a player who knows very well of his two spells with Madrid.

Manchester United’s midfielder, Casemiro, captured Brazil in the World Cup in 2022, but has not played in Selecao since the 2-0 defeat in Uruguay in October 2023.

There is also a memory for Antony, the United States striker on loan to Real Betis.

Antony has not participated in Brazil from a friendly with Morocco in March 2023. However, after having fallen in favor of Old Trafford, he has enjoyed Betis under Manuel Pellegrini.

He has scored nine goals and provided five assists in his day with Betis, helping them to reach the Wednesday conference league final, in which they will face Chelsea.

Tottenham Richarlison striker is back in the squad and could play in Brazil for the first time since March 2024, but there is no place for Neymar, who returned only from a problem of hamstrings.

“Neymar is out of the list, as he has just returned from injuries,” Acelotti said.

“I talked to him and we agreed on this. I trust Neymar, I count on him, we want it to arrive in the best conditions in the World Cup.”

Brazil is the fourth place in the World Count of Conmebol Cup of 10 teams in 21 points, six points behind the seventh position Venezuela in the Play-off site of the Confederation.
