Carlo Ancelotti labeled Xabi Alonso “one of the best in the world” in the midst of reports that comes out of Bayer Leverkusen’s coach will replace him as the manager of Real Madrid next season.
Faced with a crisis on the Classico on Sunday, a clash with Barcelona that could shape the league title race, Ancelotti was very complementary to the Spanish coach who expressed a deep affection for Los Blancos.
But the 65 -year -old young man, under fire after the defeat in the Rey Cup final and the removal of the Champions League in the quarter -final phase, remained closely on his future.
“Don Carlo”, the most successful coach in the history of the European elite competition, has spent six years in Bernabeu through two spells, but recent reports have stated that the Italian will be running the position of the main coach of Brazil before the end of the World Cup next summer.
Alonso, winner of the Champions League with Real as a player who directed Leverkusen to an unbeaten title of La Bundesliga in his first season as a coach, confirmed this week that he would leave the German side, causing speculations that the 43-year-old could go to the Spanish capital next season.

“I have read that he (Alonso) leaves Bayer Leverkusen,” Angelotti said.
“He has done an incredible job and has the doors open to him because he has shown that he is one of the best in the world.”
Despite the high praise, the Madrid chief stopped confirming his own plans, opting instead of talking about his affinity with the club.
He said: “With this club, the honeymoon never ends. Real Madrid, as (AC) Milan before them, are clubs that I have left in my heart for the time I have been here and for relationships.
“When the pressure goes down, the affection gets up. The honeymoon with Madrid will last until the last day of my life.”
Ancelotti confirmed that the striker Rodrygo has returned to the training and is in an affirmation to begin against Barcelona.

Real currently travels through its Catalan rivals by four points from the table with four remaining games.
They lost all three meetings between the two parties this season, sending 12 goals and scoring only four in the process.
The defeat for Ancelotti’s men would almost certainly deliver the title with Hansi Flick, but the director of Madrid insisted that his players would be full of trust.
“The team is fine, focused on what we have to do and excite,” added Angelotti.
“We have a lot at stake. We are sure we can achieve it. The games against Barcelona are difficult, but we are sure we can win.”
