An unlikely ring in Queens? Berlanga vs. Sheeraz Card Eyes Odd Louis Armstrong Stadium Location

The card of July 12, headed by Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz, could be staged at the Louis Armstrong Stadium of 14,000 places in Queens, New York. It would be a strange location for a boxing event. This is at the National Tennis Center.

Louis Armstrong Stadium

Dan Rafael reports that there is a “good opportunity” that the enclosure will be the Louis Armstrong stadium. It is not yet official.

The landscape of the Louis Armstrong stadium is not much better than that of Barclays Center or Madison Square Garden. If the idea is to impress the fans, place it in this location will not do much.

July 12

– Edgar Lianga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz – Headliner
-Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda-Co-Featura
– Alberto Puello vs. Subriel Matias
– David Morrell vs. Imam Khataev

The fans are still annoying for Berlanga (23-1, 18 kos) to be at the main event against Hamzah Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 kos). They feel that the title of Shakur Stevenson, a light champion of WBC, against the popular William Zepeda (33-0, 27 kos) should be the main event of this card.

Stevenson (23-0, 11 kos) has a world title and has captured world titles in three divisions. Berlanga has never won a world title and almost closed in his challenge against Super Mitja’s Unified Champion, Canelo Alvarez, on September 14 last year. Sheeraz arrives at a controversial 12 -round tie against WBC Middleweight, Carlos Adames, on February 22. Many boxing fans felt that Sheeraz lost this struggle, but was given a draw.

Central Park Dreams

The event was rumored to be staged in Central Park in New York. However, since the regulations and permits needed to stage a great external event in the park would be a difficult task. There would also be problems with environmental impact. This big green park configuration is not designed for a large people for a boxing event.
