Carrie Underwood may have found the next Taylor Swift on American Idol Season 23.
When he was 18 years old Zaylie Windsor Heared during the episode on Sunday, March 30, from the singing competition, he performed an original song called “The Used” who wrote several years earlier. She girded the warm words while hitting acoustic guitar, leaving the judges charming.
“You wrote that in mature old age of 14?” Lionel Richie amazed before asking Underwood, 42, to share her thoughts.
“You showed us a lot in your voice,” started the country’s singer. “You can go from being small and focus to, like, rising to the heights. I have the song impressed too. I feel you have a lot of art there.”
Windsor – whose yellow bang reminds someone of Swift’s Redden lifetime – She explained that her song was inspired by breakdown. “Not only the break -up part, but the process left and trying to find out who you are without that person,” he said.
While Underwood and Richie, 75, were hit by writing Windsor, a co -judgment Luke Bryan more convincing need. “Gosh, I don’t think she’s quite ready,” he said, admitting that the words feel “like a 14 -year -old from a song for me.”
Bryan, 48, said he wanted to see if Underwood would “fight” to Windsor to move on to the next round.
“My thing is, there’s a Taylor Swift-esque quality,” Underwood told Bryan, who didn’t disagree. “She doesn’t have this huge vibrato, Belty Voice, but there’s something in there. If she did it at the age of 14, she had to have many other things in her arsenal that she could bring to the table.… I feel something about it.”
Underwood voted Yes, and Richie did the same thing, revealing that he was won by the passion of Underwood. Ultimately, Windsor won a ticket for Hollywood.
“Carrie is amazing, so it’s an honor to be fought for me that way,” the young man told the cameras.
Windsor wasn’t the only competitor who drew a comparison to an already famous face during the Sunday episode. The native of Colorado Gabe Jameswho wore a black tank top and dark jeans, reminds underwood of Patrick Swayze in Dirty dancing – But the address did not land.
“I need to look up what it looks like,” James, 23, told the cameras after winning his golden ticket, joking, “that’s not going to do great on a video.”
American Idol Season 23 continues on ABC on Monday, March 31, at 8 pm ET.
