American Idol is a hurricane experience to Season 23 winner Jamal Roberts. So when it was all over, the native Mississippi broke in his victory with a favorite feast.
“I think I’ve had some hot fish for me, hot fish sandwich,” said Roberts, 27, Weekly US Only Tuesday, May 27. “And I went to my children and took them to the house so we could spend time together.”
Robert Secondly in second place John Foster and Nix breanna on May 18 Idol Finale, winning not only $ 250,000 in prize cash but a four tour on the Disney Wish cruise line. He has still not received his earnings but, for the time being, the father of three is happy to be home.

Disney/Christopher Willard“I was ready to get to my house and get into bed and get my children,” he admitted, referring to his daughters, Harmony, Lyrik and Gianna. “I was just ready to go to be a dad at this point.”
Like all Idol Winner, Roberts had a busy schedule after the show. He stopped by New York to make Good morning America And it’s going back on the road next month for CMA Fest in Nashville.
Although his youngest daughter was just 3 weeks old, he said it is not really difficult to balance fame and dads.
“It’s pretty easy,” he said. “You don’t put yourself first any more, especially when you’re a father, a parent. It’s no longer about you. It’s about making the right decisions, especially because I’m doing this for my children so they will have a bright future.”
While Roberts might feel “easy” now, the way to get there was anything but simple. He heard twice about American Idol before doing it to the top of season 23.
“I didn’t defeat. I never quit,” he told Weather in April. “I took the no. I’ve always been able to take constructive criticism and use it to win me and try again. This is I ever.”
This time he took a little advice from a judge Lionel Richiewho gave him confidence on stage despite his previous obstacles.
“He said, ‘When you’re on stage and get to do what you’re doing, you explode. I hate seeing you.’ That’s stuck with me. “I’ve learned to stay true to yourself. Don’t re-catch yourself. Oh man, re-capitalization can cause a lot of stress. Go with your first mind. Anything you do, do your best.”
