Xabi Alonso claimed his first victory as coach of Real Madrid, as they surpassed the initial removal of Raul Asencio to defeat Pachuca 3-1 in the Club World Cup.
Alonso’s first game ended with a frustrating 1-1 tie with Hilal, and Pachuca caused many problems, especially after Asencio, the center, Asencio was sent to the seventh minute.
But Madrid resisted the first storm and took over the game after Jude Bellingham opened the score in the 35th minute, and Arda Guler doubled the score eight minutes later.
Fede Valverde, who had a tardy foul saved against Hilal, was redeemed with an effort of 70 minutes, with the response of Elias Montiel nothing more than consolation for Pachuca, as his hopes of progression until the last 16 ended. Madrid is in charge of Group H ahead of the Hilal match with Red Bull Salzburg after Sunday.
There were early signs of Madrid struggling to deal with the threat of Pachuca Salomon Rondon, and his presence led Ascencio to receive his march orders.
Rondon defeated the Madrid Alta Line to involve the goal of Thibaut Courtois, but Asencio pulled him only shy from the penalty area and received a direct red.
Agustin Palavecino dragged the free piece over the bar, with Kenedy and fired closely wide, while Pachuca sought to take advantage of his additional man.
They would have done so if it were not for the reflexes of Courtois, which resulted in a double savings to avoid the long -range effort of Kenedy and then deny Alan Bautista in the rebound.
Pachuca paid the price so as not to risk when Bellingham went into the dismissal of Fran Garcia and triggered an excellent low effort to the lower corner.
Kenedy and Courtois continued their battle, as it produced another excellent savings to deny the Brazilian of the distance again.
And the skipper was repeated when Madrid doubled the leadership shortly after, Trent Alexander-Arnold shot the ball through the Gonzalo Garcia box, who later said goodbye to Guler to round off another excellent play of confident fashion.
This goal did not deter Pachuca in the second half, as they continued to create opportunities, Rondon lost one, as he volley with an effort for the first time before the substitute John Kennedy forced another good savings of Courtois from the edge of the box.
But once again, Madrid showed the largest edge Valverde reached 3-0 pulling on Brahim Diaz’s return ball in the distant part.
Montiel’s deviated effort gave Pachuca the goal they deserved when Courtois was rooted without any possibility.
But the Belgian goalkeeper refused to Carlos Sánchez after a wonderful race in La Caixa, the ten courtois savings reflect the improvements that Madrid still needs, despite a last -instance victory.
