Alleged California wildfire looters all from ‘out of town’


The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) recently released the identities of nearly a dozen suspects in attempted burglaries within Palisade fire evacuation zones in Santa Monica, none of whom live in the city, police said.

Six of the 10 suspects had “hacking devices,” officials said. All were traveling to the disaster zone from out of town.

The department has arrested 39 people in evacuation zones since the Palisades fire started, SMPD told Fox News.

Those that are not accused attempted theft were arrested for curfew violations, drug possession, warrants, parole and probation violations and other charges.

None of the 39 arrested are from Santa Monicaofficials said.

According to police, one of the suspects in the burglary, 29-year-old Joshua Kaliel Love, ran from officers and was caught with a dagger, a window-breaking tool, a mask, gloves and drugs. He was on probation at the time of his arrest.

Two others burglary suspects, Officials said 18-year-old Dominic Pachecomanga and 22-year-old Miguel Angel Dorantes were traveling in the van without identification and had gloves, burglary tools, dark clothing, ski masks and large bags.

Pachecomanga and Dorantes allegedly had a Watch Duty program that monitors fire and evacuation zones, According to the police, open on their phones.

Gabriel Isaiah Stokes, 27, was arrested after a license plate reader flagged the car he was driving in Santa Monica as stolen vehiclereports the department. He was found with a stolen California ID, other fake IDs, burglary tools, a black beanie, a ski mask and large bags, police said.

Stokes was previously charged with burglary, robbery and grand larceny, officials said.
