Alexander Isak has published a statement stating that he is “forever grateful” to Newcastle after his controversial departure to Liverpool.
Isak’s upset with Tyneside Club ended yesterday with The Premier League Champions Liverpool paying a £ 125 British record to sign the Sweden International.
He has left behind a bitter fanbase, but Isak has gone to Instagram this afternoon for gratitude after three years at St James Park.
He wrote: “I want to thank my teammates, staff and, above all, Newcastle City and all the amazing supporters of the unforgettable three years we shared together.
“Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it really belongs. It has been an honor to be part of the trip from the Champions League to win the first trophy in more than 70 years.
“Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.”
The publication is accompanied by a video showing a compilation of Isak’s goals, as well as the images of the celebrations that followed their victory at the EFL Cup on Liverpool earlier this year.
Isak is currently in international service, but it is very unlikely that his message will win the followers still furious in the way he was managed during the last stages of his Newcastle career.
The young man, 25, made public his desire to leave, with his head Eddie Howe ordering him to train alone and was not considered for the first three games of the Premier League of the season, none of which has won Newcastle.
It has been labeled “rat” by fans on social media with the term also used in banners that have appeared around St James Park.
Today he received support messages from two former teammates from Newcastle, however, with Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon, sending his best wishes.
Botman International Netherlands wrote on Instagram: “What started as teammates grew on one of my rare best friends. There are no more words that need brother, all the best in your next chapter @alex_isak (sic).”
This feeling was supported by the end of England Gordon, who published: “Regardless of the situation and what happened. It has been a pleasure to play with you.
“One of the best chemists I have had on the pitch and, most importantly, a great person and a teammate.
“I wish you nothing but the best brother.”
Isak’s agent Vlado Lem reached a different tone, however, pointing to what seemed to be a separation trait in Newcastle.
In a message sent to Talksport, Lem said, “It’s good when you have someone to be with, but it’s even more enjoyable when you know who you will never be again.”
