The U21 England midfielder, Alex Scott, urged his colleagues to “replicate what the boys did two years ago” ahead of the three quarters of the EURO U21 Lions with Spain on Saturday.
The A Trnava match will be a repetition of the final of 2023, which England won 1-0, after the three lions advanced as group B runners-up after a 2-1 defeat against the rivals of Germany on Wednesday evening.
Scott scored his first goal from the U21 after Lee Carsley’s side had won 2-0 at the courtesy pause of Ansgar Knuff and Nelson Weiper.
But despite dominating the party’s great spells, the tournament headlines could not present a late comeback and had to settle for second place in the group and a date with a family enemy in the next round.

“We are disappointed with the result,” Scott told Channel 4 after the game. “We didn’t start enough and that cost us at the end.
“Luckily, we have qualified in second, so it is positive and now we want to go to the quarterfinals.”
Asked how important its goal was to show an attitude that was not said, the 21 -year -old Bournemouth player said: “Yes (it was) huge. I think the second half completely changed.
“We have changed the shape and released us Macca (James McATEE) as number 10. We have definitely improved and it is something we can take advantage of when entering the quarterfinals.”
Despite the progression of the knockout stages, the young Carsley Lions have been far from clinical in front of the goal in their three opening matches.
Scott, however, insisted that the goals would come: “We work -in training. The boys set the goals every day. No clicking on matches, but with the quality we have on this team, there is only time before the goals begin to fly.”
When he was asked for his thoughts before the last band and eight with the favorites of the Spanish competition, Scott was in his assessment.
“He replies what the boys did two years ago,” he added.
“It will be hard. Each team in Spain is very good in the ball, very quiet and compound. We will recover from this and we will pay attention to Spain and we will pick them up.
“Hopefully we can do good performance.”
The kick off to England U21 against Spain U21 is at 20:00 (Hour of the United Kingdom) on Saturday, June 21.
