When Star Broadway Alex Newell they won their Tony’s first prizeThere was only one thing on their mind.
“I was extremely hot,” said Newell, 32 Weekly US only on Wednesday, March 19, when discussing PippinA special 50th birthday concert, now streaming through Broadwayhd. “She was so warm in that theater. Like, I remember going outside and it was cooler outside than it was in the physical space. That’s why that was the first thing out of my mouth when I got there because that’s all I could think of was how hot it was (yes).”
Newell take the trophy home for the best performance by an actor involved in a musical in the 2023 Tony Awardsheld at the United Palace in New York City. At the start of their reception speech, Newell teased, “I’m not going to catch y’all, because it’s hot here.”
The excitement did not end there. “I was also supposed to go to the press room and never do it because of my show (Rust) Performing right after I won the Tony, ”the actor – who was formerly stared as a unique adams on Clay – back to Us. “So I was moved to theater bowels to remove all my couture and wear my show’s outfits. And I couldn’t stop sweating. It was a sticky mess.”

“There is no way of not honoring people who have come before you to play a role (in revival).
