Alex Hales exposes Tamim Iqbal’s disrespectful comments about his ‘drug ban’, Bangladesh star hits back

The Bangladesh The Premier League (BPL) match between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders grabbed attention because of the fight between them Alex Hales i Tamim Iqbal. In the match, Rangpur won and continued their unbeaten streak in the tournament.

But more than the match, it was Alex Hales and Tamim Iqbal who won the limelight. The duo were involved in a verbal spat during the match, but after that, they shook hands and everything seemed to be patched up. However, the problem escalated even after the match.

He asked if I was embarrassed to have been banned for drugs in England, and he wondered if I was still taking drugs: Alex Hales fights with Tamim Iqbal

The problem worsened when Alex Hales, in an interview, revealed the fight with Tamim Iqbal. He said Tamim was upset about something and it was getting very personal. He called the ex-Bangladesh player pathetic and revealed that he asked him if he still takes drugs. Speaking to the media, he said:

“I don’t know, he (Tamim) was upset about something… we shook hands, nothing was said when he asked me if I had something to say and said to his face, but I didn’t say nothing and then it got very personal.”

“He asked if I was ashamed of being banned for drugs Englandand he was asking me if I was still on drugs, and he was very, very rude. It’s a real shame because if something happens on the field it ends up on the field, but to be personal and that too after the game, I think it’s pathetic, honestly.”

I had to stand up for my teammate and I don’t regret doing it – Tamim Iqbal’s response to Alex Hales

However, according to Tamim Iqbal, Alex Hales took the matter off the field when he spoke to the media. He said the former England batsman had a test with the youngster and also mocked him and therefore had to take a stand for his teammate and himself. Speaking to a reporter, he said:

“Many things happen in the field. I wanted to keep it on the field, but since his team has already talked about it on TV, I’ll address it. Why would I confront him if nothing happened?”

“He (Hales) abused Emon and it was seen on TV. He was taunted again today. If you watch the video of the celebration, the Rangpur players ran towards Sohan after the win , but Hales kept looking at me and taunting me. Later, when he insulted Emon again, I had to defend my partner, and I don’t regret do it. We both exchanged words.”

I will always stand for us, regardless of how I am portrayed on television – Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal also spoke about asking Alex Hales about the drugs saga, saying he will always root for his players. He said the opposition batsman surprised everyone with his comments in the media.

“I didn’t even know about his ban or follow him that closely. But I know there are a lot of accusations against him in England. If someone says something about me or my team, I will always stand up for us, no matter what. I’m portrayed on TV.”

“The verbal exchanges between players on the field are normal, but Hales surprised everyone with that interview. After watching it, I felt that people should hear my side as well.”
