Suzanne Somers‘Widow Alan Hamel dates again – and his new romance with former -gostar his late wife Joanna Cassidy.
“Joanna was a guest star on Alan Hamel’s show in Canada in the ’70s, ”Hamel, 88, said in an interview with Fox News Published on Wednesday, June 25. “She was a great guest, and was a dynamic show, and we liked each other, not romantic, but mostly with respect.
Hamel, although he and Cassidy, now 79, explained each other in the past, that they had been founded by his son, Stephen. (Alan shares Stephen and his daughter Leslie, with his first wife Marilyn Hamel.)
Stephen met with Cassidy while attending a recent film screening and she had no clue the actress already associated with his father.
Before her death in October 2023, Suzanne Somers made it clear that husband Alan Hamel was the love of her life. “We pay a lot of attention to each other. That seems simple, but you’d be amazed at how many couples they don’t remember paying much attention to each other,” the three alum (…)
“After a long conversation, (Stephen) suggested to Joanna that she and (i) would come forward and should meet,” Alan told the outlet. “Stephen didn’t know we knew each other.”
As well as working with Alan in the past, Cassidy starred before Hollywood wives alongside Somers. 1985 miniseries also appeared Anthony Hopkins. Candice Bergen and Angie Dickinson.
When Alan and Cassidy came together ”the pair flanked for their age saying they have never been with a partner that was so old before.
“He was certainly appropriate age,” he teased. “Joanna is extremely skilled. She is easily the hardest and most active actress in Hollywood for well over 50 years.” ‘
Before tying the knot with Somers in 1973, Alan was married to Marilyn between 1958 and 1971. Alan and Somers were together Up to her death in October 2023. The actress died to follow fight with cancer. She was 76.
“In the last few days of Suzanne, he told me twice ‘don’t mop around. Live your life. We’ll see each other after you cross over,’” Alan remembered Wednesday. “I’m lucky to have Joanna in my life. Most men would love to have Joanna in their life.”
Alan, although he does not know what the future has for him and Cassidy, added that he was grateful for the time he spent with Somers.
“As I am now the cocktail of my life, I am blessed with a magnificent family thanks to an amazing Suzanne, a privileged life, and our business we created 50 years ago,” he said.
Cassidy, for her part, Wed Kennard Kobrin in 1967. He divided the pair in 1974 after a decade of marriage.
