Former Cricter Sanjay Manjrekar raised his concern about the challenges of continuous fitness that faced India’s fast bowls before the fourth test against England. Manjrekar stated that Indian sewing bowls do not stay in a long time, calling a “serious problem” that the Indian cricket must be addressed.
India is preparing for the essential party at Old Trafford in Manchester, from July 23. They traced 1-2 to the five-game series. However, his preparations have been interrupted by injuries to several key players, adding pressure to the visiting side after the 22 -year defeat to Lord’s to the third test.
Akash Deep, who played a crucial role in India’s victory in Edgbaston, is treating an injury to the groin. The 28-year-old had returned to the action after recovering from an injury to the back suffered during the Australian tour, who had left him for three months. He made his comeback at IPL 2025 for LuckNow Super Giants.

Akash Deep replaced Jasprit Bumrah’s rest in the second test and offered a game winning performance. He took 10 doctors, including 6-99 in the second post, helping India to win 336. However, he could not replicate this form at Lord’s, managing only one Wicket at both entries.
Arshdeep Singh, sewn from the left arm, suffered an injury to the bowl hand during a training session in Beckenham. In response to injuries, Haryana Pacer Ansel Kamboj has joined the squad for the two final games of the series.
Sanjay Manjrekar stated that India has rhythm bowling options, but most have no experience. He said that India has a limited set of tested seams available, despite the presence of gross talent.
“I think there is an option. But there are all talented sewing bowls. Arshdeep is an exciting option, and Ashul Kamboj also. I liked the hard fringer in the test he played in Australia. There will always be seam bowls.
Jasprit Bumrah is expected to play three tests in the ongoing series as part of the management of the workload. He suffered a back problem during the fifth test against Australia in Sydney earlier this year. The 31 -year -old Pealer has been taking precautions to avoid further injury.
Sanjay Manjrekar stated that India’s cosistes are struggling to keep in shape. Manjrekar added that Akash Deep did not turn much during the season, but he still suffered an injury. He called it a “serious problem” and urged the BCCI to investigate the main cause.
“With the IPL cricket, white ball cricket and tests, we just don’t have our quick bowls to stay in a long time. Akash Deep is a brilliant example. It’s not as if it had turned a lot during the season, so now workload management or workload was not properly addressed,” said Manjrekar.
“I think it has become a serious problem that you do not have Indian sewing bowls that keep in shape enough, and it must be addressed by the Indian Cricket. We see a young, exciting talent in the IPL and, after three games, they do not look next season. Someone has to reach the bottom.”
