Great changes to India’s workforce for England

The largest transitional phase of the Indian cricket has begun officially, and a young squad has been named for the series of tests against England, with some fresh faces.

From the Indian Trophy-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, up to six players are not part of the Indian main squad for the five trial games in England.

Rohit Sharma, whipped Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have officially retired from the red ball cricket, and Devdutt Padikkal has ignored because an injury is currently breastfeeding. Also, Sarfaraz Khan, Harshit Rana and Tanush Kotian have been abandoned from the squad.

While talking about the selection of Sai Sudharsan, the main selector, Ajit Agarkar, clarified that he had not been chosen to the test team based on his red form at the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ajit Agarkar called the young Tamil Nadu Youngster a “fantastic red ball player” and said they had their eyes for a couple of years, and with the places that opened in the XI test, they decided to include it on the team.

“Last year, when England Lions came, he (Sudharsan) was made.

“ Once you have played, we will probably know better. I do not think that your IPL performances have made us choose it for a test cricket. We have been looking at it for a while, at least since I have been here a couple of years, but there was no place in the team to choose the boys. Now that we have the opportunity, it certainly deserves -” added Ajit Agarkar.
