Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), directed by Ajinkya Rahane, assumed the Sunrisers Leed Pat Cummins Hyderabad (SRH) in the 15th game of the Premier League of Indian 2025 (IPL 2025) on Thursday, April 3.
Kolkata Knight Riders won the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad dominantly by 80 runs at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

This game was really important to us: Ajinkya Rahane
KKR registered a huge 200/6 score on the board after being invited to Bate first, thanks to Venkatesh Iyer’s Sensational Knocks, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh and Ajinkya Rahane. Defending the total, Vaibhav Aora led the bowling attack and threw themselves to SRH by 120 in 16.4.
During the presentation ceremony after the game, Kolkata Knight Riders Ajinkya Rahane spoke about the importance of registering a great victory in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Said:
“This game was really important to us. Winning for a great margin was crucial. We even wanted to dump this wick. When we lost two early doctors, we wanted to consolidate up to 6 lower points: playing with intent, but playing on cricket shots. And then, when we have doctors in the hand, the boys can get the maximum possible career.”

Ajinkya Rahane expressed his satisfaction with the battle performance of his team and said they learned from their previous mistakes. Said:
“Happy to the battle unit. The last two games were not the brand for us. But we learned a lot from our mistakes. This is an excellent example for us as a battle unit. Rinku and Venkatesh: these boys can play bright shots. Ramandeep was sitting on wear, Dre was sitting and Moeen was also ready.”
Ajinkya Rahane also revealed that they planned to play normally up to 15 points before moving to Berserk in the last five points. He also dragged a rich praise to the KKR bowls to do a great job in the game. Said:
“It’s about playing normal up to 15 points and assuming it. At first we thought that in 170-180 on the surface it would be good. The slowest balls were catching us. We had three quality spinners. Moeen, unfortunately, could not spend one night.
How did KKR perform in the previous IPL match against SRH?
Kolkata Knight Riders’s previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad took place in the Ma Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai in the Indian Premier League League 2024 final. They offered an almost relentless performance and won a victory of 8 Wicket with 57 remaining balls.
Bowling First, Mitchell Starc showed his penalty in the biggest game of the season and provided KKR a great start. He soon hit with two doctors, including a sensational delivery to say goodbye Abhishek Sharma. Vaibhav Aora sent Travis’s head to a golden duck, while Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Harshit Rana said that Srh never left.
The collective effort saw that the six KKR bowls took at least one wick each and grouped SRH for only 113 runs at 18.3 points, the lowest total in an IPL final.
The persecution was a formality and KKR made it even easier. Venkatesh Iyer hammer 52* came out of only 26 balls, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz collided with a useful price of 39. They finally completed the Chase in just 10.3 points in a unilateral final.
