Artificial intelligence Semiconductor Startup Groq announced on Monday that created its first data processing center in Europe when it increases international extension.
Groq, which is supported by investment weapons Samsung and Ciscosaid the data center is located in Helsinki, Finland and in partnership with Queinix.
Groq seeks to take advantage of the growth of demand for II services in Europe after other US companies, which also increased investment in the region. In particular, scanning is a popular place for data because there is easy access to renewable energy and cool climates. Last month, Nvidia Jensen CEO Juan was in Europe and signed several transactions on infrastructureincluding data centers.
The Groq, which is estimated at $ 2.8 billion, develops a chip that the company calls language processing (LPU). It is intended for mining rather than training. The exception is when the pre -prepared AI model interprets live data to come up with the result, as well as the answers produced by popular chats.
While Nvidia has suppressing the chips necessary to train huge AI models with its graphic devices (graphic processors), there is a launch of startups that hope to take a pie when it comes to production. Sambanova; Ampere, SoftBank is in the purchase process; Cerebra and fractiles seeking to join the AI race.
European politicians push the concept of sovereign II – where data centers should be located in the region. Data processing centers closer to users also help improve the speed of services.
Global Center Data Builder Equinix connects various cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, which facilitates the business multiple suppliers. The LPU Groq will be installed at the Equinix data center, allowing businesses accessing Graq output through Equinix.
Currently, Groq has data centers in the US and Canada and Saudi Arabia with its technology.
