The Polish Finance Minister in the United States remains the most important ally in Europe, CNBC said on Tuesday, saying that it is important for the block to find areas where it can increase trade and cooperation.
He put forward the defense and acquisition of greater US military equipment as an area where further interaction could occur.
“The United States is the strongest and most important ally of the European Union and Poland. That is why we buy a lot of military equipment here in the US, and why we appreciate the availability of US troops in Poland,” Andrew Damanski said in the CNBC in the Baku International Mint and Spring Bank in Washington.
“I believe that it is time for everyone that it was time to strengthen our Eastern flank NATO (in Europe), and the US’s presence is absolutely important,” he added.
Protection is one of the spheres where the EU can meet double the balance of trade with the US and increase the costs in accordance with NATO valid requirements.
Both questions are many years of mistakes for President Trump when it comes to European allies who were strained after an early alert about 20% of EU imports.
Since then, the global market has pushed the US president to announce a 90-day pause at the “return” tariffs above 10%-enrolling the moratorium on China.
In the intermediate mode, several countries, along with the EU, are generally trying to agree on bilateral trade transactions with the Trump administration.
“We have to have a deal, it’s crystal clear,” said Caroline Roth in Washington. “The US and the European Union are very strong trading partners, and the US is our most important ally, and this is a fact, and so we need to find a good solution.”
He added: “We must use these 80 days, which remained very, very reasonably, and therefore (European) commission is working to find a good solution.”
Domanski said there were a number of areas where trade can increase, pointing to the EU, potentially buying more US military equipment and American natural gas.
Poland escaped most of Trump’s wrath from the European defense spending, given that Warshava seeks to invest almost 5% of his GDP for security this year and repeatedly urged the Allies to increase his contribution to the arena.
According to estimates born Poland is believed to spend 4.12% of its GDP in 2024, while the US accounted for 3.38% of its economic products.
“We ask our European friends to do the same as to increase defense costs,” said the CNBC Domanski. “It’s not easy, we know that the budgets are tough and some countries face financial problems, but some actions are really necessary.”
