The EFL Cup winners receive a place in the Play-off phase of the UEFA Conference League, unless they are classified through another route for the European competition.
Newcastle was an example of the rule in action by 2024/25, instead of classifying in the Champions League through its league position.
This meant that his Play-Off site of the conference league was in the highest classified team that had not been qualified for the European competition through their league position.
In the event that they finish the level after 90 minutes, the EFL Cup links go directly to the penalties to the semifinals, which take place on two legs.
If the score is at a level after the second stage, the additional time and, if necessary, penalties are used to separate equipment.
The final is a unique match at Wembley Stadium, with additional time and sanctions used if required.
Liverpool defeated Chelsea 11-10 for penalties in the final 2021/22 and marked the same equipment after additional time 2023/24 Through the winner of the 118th minute of Virgil Van Dijk.
