The former South Star -AFRICANA AB de Villiers has opened itself on its challenging experience with the Delhi Darevils (now renamed Delhi Capitals) during the first years of the Indian Premier League (IPL). De Villiers also stated that there were “many poisonous characters” inside the squad at that time.
Ab de Villiers began his IPL race with the Franchise based in Delhi, which signed him for $ 300,000 at the inaugural auction. The South African Wicket-Butter played 28 games for Delhi in the tournament before joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he had a memorable point.

“I would like to give you names. The burning people, you know. But the Delhi Daedevils were in the discomfort. I mean, it was. There were many poisonous characters on this side,” Villiers told Cricklet.com.
“Many legends. So this is such a bittersweet time for me because I speak … I remember it with great pleasure. And some of the highlights of my life and my career were there, spending time with Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori,” he added.
During the first years of the IPL, Delhi’s team built a squad with players such as Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik and Glenn McGrath.

The old Proteas pattern recalled that they have been intimidated by players like Glenn McGrath. Ab de Villiers said he found himself sitting next to McGrath two years later, during the IPL in 2008.
“This is where we approached. But these guys were my heroes and I was very scared to grow,” he added. “Like McGrath. I mean, I played against him in 2006 in a test game and I could hardly breathe, literally, and I never talked to him a word. And the next minute, I am here in 2008 and he sits next to me and goes, I like the way to play. I’m like, what happens there?”

De Villiers said he appreciated the moments with his teammates. The veteran batter admitted that he was not fully supported by the franchise during his three years, which made the global experience bittersweet.
“Thus, from these highs to realizing that there were some cancerous characters inside and there is no need to mention names, so it was a very bittersweet three years for me. In addition, I was not supported as I would have liked it,” he said.
The 41 -year -old scored only 95 runs in six games during the opening season. Delhi arrived in the semifinals before losing in front of the eventual champions Rajasthan Royals. He improved his performance in the 2009 season in South -Africa, where he scored 465 runs with an impressive average of 51.67.
However, Delhi lost again in the semifinal, this time to the DECCAN loaders. The following season it was disappointing, as the team could not qualify for the tie.
