The only history Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are doing this season of the threatening variety – and Rodgers is doing his best to have a sense of humor about it all.
During the Jets’ 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 29 – New York’s sixth loss in seven games – Rodgers, 41, was sacked four times, becoming the most sacked quarterback in NFL history .
Rodgers has now been sacked 568 times, surpassing that Tom Bradya mark of 565.
“Yeah, I got Tom on that one,” Rodgers joked to reporters after the game.
Rodgers accomplished the dubious distinction in his 247th NFL game. Meanwhile, Brady finished his career with a total of 335 NFL games under his belt.
The drubbing at the hands of the Mesurau on Sunday was the latest embarrassment a string of them this season for the Jets. They fell to 4-12 on the year after opening the season with Super Bowl aspirations.
Rodgers took out his frustrations during the third quarter of the game, when he was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty for pushing a Bills fullback Christian Benford to the ground after throwing his second interception of the afternoon.

Ultimately, Rodgers said the game was indicative of how things have gone all year for the Jets.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s like the season – it got away from us,” he explained. “Too many games came from us. This game got away from us. We were moving the ball well, and then we hit a wall. And that’s been kind of the season, too.”
The Jets will close the regular season on Sunday, January 5 against the Miami Dolphins. What happens after that is anyone’s guess. Rodgers has indicated that he would like to come back to play for the Jets next season, but no official decision has been made by the team.

The Jets have won just two games since firing Saleh, 45, on October 8.
During the CBS broadcast of Sunday’s game, a play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz revealed what Rodgers told him when asked last week about his future with the team.
“He looked at us and said, ‘I really don’t know. I’ll take some time,'” Nantz, 65, recalled.
Rodgers played just four snaps for the Jets during his first year with the team in 2023, suffering a season-ending Achilles injury on its first drive.
