Former Indian Cricter Commenter Aakash Chopra shared his views on Australia’s possibilities to do so at the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 after they did not defend the title against South Africa in the last final in Lord’s in June.
Chopra courageously stated that Australia is no longer a strong favorite to reach the WTC 2027 final. However, the kangaroos are currently running the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points after their net sweeps in the West Indies.
The ex-Bat de India felt Australia has a great opportunity to remove most points in her home test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, but they cannot win many points during their series of ashes against England because this is a series of five-game tests at the end of this year.

Even the well-known Cricket Pandit predicted that Australia will not gain the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points during the Indian test tour next year.
Chopra also said that the Australian cricket team, especially its bowls, is growing up and can face a hard transition soon. So Chopra considers Australia a good opportunity, but is not among the strongest contestants for the WTC 2027 final.
Aakash Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Their domestic series are against New Zealand, England and Bangladesh. 100 percent will win against Bangladesh. They should win against New Zealand. They should win against England. However, it is a series of five games, so they are not possible that they will have full points.
He continued: “They could win only one game. If they win only one game, they will lose many points. They can win all the western Indian matches (which they have already done). However, South -Africa will challenge them again. So it is not so simple. Looking at the draw, I do not seem so easy. Decent possibility, but I will not say strong.”

Aakash Chopra, meanwhile, believes that South -Africa has a hard path ahead of the race for the WTC 2027 final. He even courageously stated that the champions defending will not reach the finals.
With a series of domestic series against Australia, England and Bangladesh, and Tough Away Tours in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Chopra feels that the protein side has “less chance” to get the points and even join the race for the WTC 2027 final.
Chopra signed saying: “Africa has less chance. They are the champions defending at this time, but it is difficult. The three of their distance series are in the subcontinent. They will even cost them to draw the three series. South -Africa, in my opinion, may not be described. There is a good opportunity not to classify.”
Above all, South Africa and Australia are currently facing a three-party T20i series. Australia defeated South -Africa for 17 runs in the first party T20I in Darwin on August 10. Both teams will face each other in the second game T20I on Tuesday, August 12.
