A strip of Trump’s ceasefire causes frustration in Kiev

There is no deal in Alaska. It has always been the most likely, and, in the absence of the President of Ukrainian Volodimir Zelensky, perhaps the most desirable result.

But US President Donald Trump’s turning lapel from the need for immediate ceasefire, which he said in advance caused deep disappointment in Kiev and across Europe.

Russia’s position has long been that ceasefire can only come in the context of a comprehensive settlement, given Russia’s interests – and inevitably provides Ukraine’s surrender.

This is the position that Trump approved again.

“This was definitely all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine,” he wrote about the social truth, ” – go directly to the peace agreement.”

Make the lights, he noted: “often do not stand.”

It seems that this flies before Ukraine’s main demand, approved by all its European supporters: that the unconditional ceasefire should be the first.

The main thing is that he also buys Russian Vladimir Putin on the battlefield, where he is convinced that he wins.

“If Putin’s military purpose was to avoid immediate restrictions in Russian operations in Ukraine, it seems to be successful,” says Matthew Savil, director of the Military Sciences of the Royal United Service Institute.

Last night, Putin warned Ukraine and Europeans not to “throw a wrench” in the works of uncertain progress, which he reached.

But for Kyiv and his allies, exactly what Trump did, canceling the achievements of what they all hoped was a successful previous week of mad diplomacy aimed at influence on the results in Alaska.

It is a reminder, as if necessary, Trump’s tendencies before the re -gaze of the last person to have an ear.

For a short time this morning, the European leaders were breathing, waiting to find out if their fruit efforts were dropped aside.

The truth of his word before the summit, Trump went to Zelensky. Two men talked an hour before joining European leaders.

Zelensky said the call was “long and significant” and that he would go to Washington on Monday for his first visit after a catastrophic meeting in the oval office in February.

Since then, much has happened when the European allies of Kiev are working hard on the resumption of damage and Zelensky school in the best ways to handle the moody and unstable White House residents.

“I am grateful for the invitation,” Zelensky said, adding that “it is important for the power of America to affect the situation.”

But in the following post, after Trump’s statement about social truth, Zelensky accepted a more relevant tone.

“The killings should stop as soon as possible,” he said. “The fire should be stopped both on the battlefield and in the sky, as well as against our port infrastructure.”

Trump’s “whisper” rose this morning where they stopped last week.

They emphasized the vital importance of the inclusion of Ukraine in talking about its future, but also stopped because they know what they should do regularly to express their gratitude for Trump’s efforts.

“President Trump’s efforts have brought us closer than if -earlier to stop the illegal war of Russia in Ukraine,” said Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Starmer said he welcomed what he called the US openness, together with Europe to provide “reliable security guarantees” for Ukraine in the event of a deal.

If and when the fight ended up, the exact nature of these guarantees will need to be prescribed in much more detail than so far.

Despite the role in Europe, the main military, economic and political band in Europe, everyone knows that Ukraine’s future security cannot be sure without significant US support.

In her own comments on the Alaska summit, Italian leader Georgia Meloni said that guarantees for Ukraine could be “inspired by Article 5” by NATO – the principle of collective defense signed by all NATO members.

Several messages this morning suggested the idea of guarantees outside NATO, but the equivalent of Article 5 were discussed during the last call between Trump and European leaders.

But after Trump’s face is obvious this morning, you can almost hear the sound of the minds that spin through European capitals.

In London, the government seems to put on a bold face.

“If you can do everything done (ceasefire and peaceful agreement) at a time, or in the rapid continuity, it is obviously good,” said the senior source of Downing.

“But we all want to see the combat stop.”

Trump died the idea of immediate ceasefire, undoubtedly informed Putin’s very controversial account of how they stopped in the past.

Quasi-Smak in Alaska was already a free victory for Putin. The return of the international Paria to the international stage (although one, decorated with unambiguous display of US military forces on Elmendorf-Richardson) and some of the state visits.

The threat of US sanctions also retreated, and Trump said it could take two -three weeks before he had to think about it.

All this raises many questions about what can say hello to Zelensky, both on Monday in Washington and, when he finally found himself in the room with Putin and Trump.
