“A SOID START” – Invicta Scotland after two classifications of the World Cup

Scotland’s head, Steve Clarke, greeted the “Solid Start” on his side after a 2-0 victory over Belarus He kept them uninvictable in the World Cup standings.

An instinctive finish of Che Adams and a goal from the second half were enough for the Scots to win a game that dominated.

Scotland is only behind Denmark for a goal after two games with two home games, but Clarke remains prudent, as he has been chasing the first final of the World Cup since 1998.

He said, “It was a hard night. We continued to produce, doing what we wanted to do. The message was just to be patient and we managed to do it.

“It’s a good start, a solid start. Four points will never qualify you for anything. It’s good to go home with a smile on your face, but I’m thinking about the next month.

“Billy (Gilmour) and Ben (Gannon-Doak) are two players who excite the audience. My job is to choose a team to win the game. Both did very well.

“The clean sheets are what we have to build our campaign.”

Scotland captain Andy Robertson heard the opening of Adams, his tenth for his country, was key to victory.

He said: “Manufactured. This is the best way to describe it.

“We knew they would try to be a little more safe and defensive. We only had to be patient and achieve the goal in the perfect moment just before half the time.

“We could have had more, but a job well done.”
