A manhunt after a mass shooting results in the deaths of ten people, including children

A gunman killed at least 10 people, including two children, in southern Montenegro and is still at large, police said.

At least some of the deaths occurred at a restaurant in the Cetinje area before the suspect reportedly moved on to other locations.

A verbal dispute between the guests preceded the shooting, RTCG quoted a police official as saying.

Prime Minister Milojka Spajic called the shooting a “terrible tragedy” and his government declared three days of national mourning starting Thursday.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Saranavich, the armed man killed his family members, two children of the owner of the restaurant, as well as the owner himself.

Saranovich called the incident “a consequence of broken interpersonal relations”, AFP news agency reports.

Four people are in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being seriously injured in the shooting, the Prime Minister’s Agency reported.

The suspect was previously arrested for possession of a weapon, Reuters reports.

Mass shootings are relatively rare in this small Balkan country.
