Flame broke through the former planning house in Louisiana, which was built in 1859, destroying most of the historical structure.
The fire started on Thursday afternoon when two employees saw the smoke leaving the room on the second floor.
30 to 40 firefighters were present at the scene, but failed to control the flames, CBS News reports.
By the end of the day, the historic mansion was declared complete loss.
The cause of the fire is still investigating and there were no reports of injuries.
