The Sudanese Paradise forces of the Military Group (RSF) stormed the besieged city of El Fasher on Friday at the Battle of Seven Hours, BBC witnesses said.
RSF fighters managed to seize a cattle market, a prison and military base, broadcasting videos of their members walking through empty greennsers.
It was the first time RSF fighters entered the city largely after the siege of El -Fosher – a permanent battle for control of the Western city of Darfur – began 15 months ago.
On Saturday morning, the army avenged and managed to push RSF back outside El Fasher. But Matilda Wu from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) called the city a “trap of death.”
“What we hear is stories about horror, terror and weekly shelling, attacks on civil infrastructure,” “,” ” Ms Wu told the BBC Newshour program.
“There are local volunteers – they really fight, risking every day to try to provide some food for people who are mostly starving.”
Siddig Omar, a 65-year-old resident of El Fasher, told the BBC that RSF entered the city on Friday from the south and southwest.
RSF, whose fighters gathered in the city, often attack El Fasher. According to the army, it was their 220 offensive.
But this time, during the battle, which was raging for seven hours, they managed to take control of the urban livestock market, which was closed for business for months.
From here, they broadcast the videos of their fighters who walk through the empty streams. They also briefly contained the jail of the Shala and the headquarters of the central reserve forces of the military.
On Saturday morning, the army avenged and succeeded in pushing RSF outside the city, saying that it caused “great losses” to a paramilitary group.
But Mr. Omar said that RSF shelling is the use of drones – a sequel and during the Saturday.
“One of the sinks got into a civilian vehicle near my house, resulting in the death of five civilians in the car,” he said.
In April 2023, Sudan plunged into the civil war after an angry struggle for power began between his army and the RSF.
This led to the hunger and claims of the genocide in the western region of Darfur.
More than 150,000 people were killed in a conflict across the country, and about 12 million escaped houses that the United Nations called the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
El-Fasher-Did city in Darfur, which is now controlled by the military. But the obscure of communications makes it difficult to confirm information from the besieged city, because only those who have satellite connections on the Internet.
The last offensive RSF followed the weeks of artillery and drones. Recently, the group started using large drones.
The army accuses the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of RSF funding, accusing the Perside Nafta denied.
The attack this weekend occurred three months after the Zamzam camp on the outskirts of El Fasher. It was the largest movement in the country, and many of its residents either fled to El Fashir, or tried to get to Tavil, 60 km (about 40 miles).
Ms. Wu, the head of NRC propaganda in Sudan, said the team in Tavile continues to hear horrible stories when people are desperately trying to find security.
“People run away at night, on asses – trying to avoid armed men, aiming at them, raped them,” she said.
“We get people who come to Tavil, who have not eaten for weeks.”
Nearly 379,000 people fled to Tavil, where they face the cholera flash, and it is expected to have heavy rain likely to destroy the improvised shelters.
This week, the residents of El Fashera reported the BBC Arabic Radio Program more about their terrible situation.
“Now we are deeply suffering, and everyone around us is faced with the same difficulties,” one person said.
“No bread, no food, no work. Even if you have money, there is nothing accessible in the markets.
“If someone is ill, we can’t find any medication and treatment.
“There is no medication in hospitals. The situation here is really terrible.”
Another man said until recently, the residents hoped that it was called “Ombaz”, the food waste remaining after the oil was pressed.
“We are in a very critical situation,” he said.
“Even ombaz is no longer available because the peanuts stopped working.
“We call for help – please urgently need help.”
Ms Wa caused apathy of the international community when it came to participate with the warring parties and their supporters.
“Funding is completely reduced, and the consequence is what you see it on earth,” she said.
“People (in El Fasher) just hope for the solidarity of others.
“If they have some food, they will share it with each other.”
Last week the International Criminal Court (ICC) stated that there were “Smart reason” believes in war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed in Darfura.
The charges of war crimes have been kept over the last two years, and in January 2025, the United States determined that RSF and the Union militias committed genocide against the Neo -Guard population of the region.
