The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) is preparing for its annual general meeting at the end of September, where various positions will be filled. According to reports, an old Indian cricket, known for beating multiple records during his career, is considered the leader who becomes the next President of BCCI.
Sourav Ganguly acted as BCCI president before being succeeded by the 1983 World Cup winner, Roger Binny. Binny left in July 2025 after reaching the 70 -year -old council limit, with Vice President Rajeev Shukla as acting president.
It is expected that the BCCI will be responsible for permanent leadership during the annual general meeting at the end of this month, with reports that suggest that the Council does not seek to retain Shukla for paper.

According to Dainik Jagran, an old Indian cricketter, known for beating multiple records, is the leader to become the next president of BCCI.
The report added that informal discussions have already taken place, including a recent meeting in England with a higher political leader. If confirmed, this appointment would continue the tendency of ex-trickers at the helm of the Council, after Sourav Ganguly in 2019 and the winner of the World Cup Roger Binny in 2022.
He further stated that the election could be unnecessary, with a consensus between the key interest groups that can open the way for a gentle and unanimous selection.
Devajit Saikia hoped to continue as BCCI secretary
Devajit Saikia is expected to continue as Secretary of the BCCI despite three years (as a joint secretary – 2 years and three months, and secretary – nine months) in the Council. Above all, the first year’s office carriers, Rohan Gauns, Desai and Prabhtej Bhatia, are likely to keep their positions.
In the meantime, the competition for the position of the IPL president is calling, with the former secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Sanjay Naik, and the current BCCI vice -president, Rajeev Shukla, emerging as potential candidates.
If Shukla assumes the President of the IPL, the BJP leader and the president of the Bihar Cricket Association, Rakesh Tiwari, he could become a contestant of the Vice President.
The next National Sports Governance Law could make significant changes in the BCCI rules, but until its implementation, the election will proceed in the current framework.

According to a PTI report, it is expected that the BCCI will decide on its next President during the annual general meeting of September, before the National Law of Sports Governance comes into force. It is still unknown how many former players would be willing to take on this honorary role.
