The South Legend -Africa, AB de Villiers, recently said that he misses his former teammate of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), whipped Kohli, on the test cricket. De Villiers stated that Kohli’s absence in red ball cricket feels her for both him and the Indian team, adding that fans can still enjoy their presence in white ball formats.
AB Villiers shares his long friendship with Kohli, both outside and outside the Cricket field. The duo recently celebrated together when the Royal Challengers won the IPL 2025 title. Kohli and Villiers played RCB together for more than a decade and created many memorable collaborations in the field.

Speaking to News24, with Villiers said that he and the Indian team Miss Kohli in a test cricket. He added that fans can still enjoy their battle in white ball formats over the coming years.

“We and India always lack Kohli shot in a test cricket. He is a great friend of mine. I even miss seeing -playing red ball cricket, but at least he is still there in white ball format and I hope many more years,” said Villiers.
De Villiers accumulated 9,577 runs in 228 hatred at an average of 53.50, including 25 centuries and 53 years. The whisk scored 1,672 shots in 78 T20is at a strike rate of 135.16, with 10 half a century. It also scored 8,756 runs into 114 tests at an average of 50.66, including 22 centuries and 46 half a century.
Kohli shot withdraw from the trial cricket ahead of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
Wanted Kohli debuted against the West Indies in Kingston on June 20, 2011. He accumulated 9,230 ridges at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 half a century. Kohli decided to move away from the red ball cricket ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 trophy.
The Delhi-born cricket also captured India in 68 tests, reaching 40 wins, including the victory of the historical series in Australia during the 2018-19 border-Gavaskar border trophy. Under his leadership, India reached the final of the ICC World Test Championship in 2021, but lost to New Zealand by seven doctors.
Kohli retired from T20is after winning the World Cup of 2024 T20. The 36 -year -old batter will focus exclusively on hatred and is expected to be in action during the next Australia tour in October.
Shubman Gill had big boots to fill – AB of Villiers
Ab de Villiers praised Shubman Gill for his remarkable performance. The old cricketter stated that Gill was confronted with immense pressure to advance large roles with Kohli and Rohit Sharma absent.
“Shubman was incredible. He had great boots to fill, with a lot of pressure, because Virat and Rohit were no longer there. But for a young man he took such a step on an uncomfortable tour of England, it is never easy. It was very impressive as it happened,” added Villiers.
Shubman Gill replaced Rohit Sharma as a test pattern ahead of England’s tour. The young batter guided the team to a 2-2 draw despite an unexpected squad.
