“Savannah, I don’t even know where to start this video because I feel like there’s nothing that has never been paid between us,” said Todd, 56, while holding back tears. “But I wanted to leave a video for you.”
The clip was shown – recorded 14 hours before Todd reported to the Federal Prison Camp in Architacola, Florida – during the Premiere episode of New Lifetime Docuseries The Chrisleys: Back to realitywho performed for the first time on Monday, September 1.
“No dad could ever be more proud of their daughter than I am of you and I’m sorry,” he concluded. “I’m really.”
Docuseries performed Lifetime for the first time nearly four months after Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisleyin released from prison after being pardoned by President Donald Trump. The couple spent 28 months in prison after being convicted of paying tax and bank and wire fraud payments in 2022. (They have continued to maintain their innocence.)
The Premiere episode included interviews with Savannah, 28, along with her brothers Chase Chrisley and Grayson Chrisley. Todd’s mother, longand Julie’s parents, Harvey and Why Hughesalso appears. (Todd and Julie are covered by phone calls from prison.)
“Seeing them say goodbye,” Savannah remembered, becoming emotional. “I’ll never forget him opening the door and just watch him walk away.”
Chase, 29, compared his parents’ prison stay with “death” in their family. “Not getting my parents around new is so devastating,” he added.
“If both parents do not go to prison make you grow up, then there will be nothing,” added Grayson, 19.
Todd and Julie were still imprisoned in the Premiere episode, with Savannah telling the camera that working out of prison was her “No. 1 mind,” explaining that “the wait” is the hardest part.
Elsewhere in the episode, viewers saw Grayson returning home from Alabama University following his new year. She revealed to the cameras that Julie was “down” about her stay in prison because of “all the things she is missing” in his life.
Grayson revealed that he made the decision to stop playing baseball because Julie went to prison.
“My whole life was baseball. That’s what I’ve done every weekend throughout the year since I was 5. I’ve never played a game that my mother wasn’t in,” he said. “When they were on trial in Atlanta, I was playing a tournament in Atlanta. My mother went out of court and came to my tournament in Atlanta. When I couldn’t do it anymore, I was like, ‘I really don’t want to play anymore.’
Grayson also shared that Julie had left a stuffed bear with a “voice recording” of it. However, he did not play on camera.
“I don’t want to listen to it, I feel that that’s the last private thing I have,” he said. “We give everything to the cameras, that’s one thing I want. That’s one thing the cameras don’t get.”
