Influencer Jess Hurrell died following a battle with cancer. She was 42.
“We are hooked to say that Jess died last Friday after a battle of 8 years with cancer,” the Hurrell family shared through Instagram On Friday, August 29.
While Hurrell fought her cancer diagnosis, she did not let her health battles keep her from living and enjoying her life.
“Even tackling this horrific disease for over 8 years, people couldn’t believe how positive and strong it was,” the tribute continued. “Most people didn’t even know that Jess was carrying this around with her, as she always waived, smiles and powered through life. We have broken the heart and she will be remembered forever.”
Jess has survived by her husband, David Hurrelland their two children. The couple shared a son and daughter who were not publicly revealed.
David also shared a tribute to his late wife in honoring the pair’s 14th anniversary. (The couple tied the knot in 2011 after meeting at school.)
“ -Happy Birthday Darling,” David wrote through Instagram Alongside several photos throw back from their names. “Can’t believe we didn’t get to 14 but have had the most amazing 25 years and I’ve blessed me that I’ve met you. Sleep Tight xxx
Jess was best known for creating interior design and lifestyle content, eventually nurturing more than 94,000 followers on Instagram. Earlier this year, Jess opened her melanoma diagnosis and experienced combat the disease.
“Four and a half years ago I was told that my phase 2 melanoma moved on to Step 4… I got malignant and lymph nodes removed 18 months before and got it all clearly,” he wrote alongside the Instagram reel in February. “But he was back and extremely scary. I didn’t know if I was going to be here to see my children grow up. So I started two years of immunotherapy treatment.”
The video featured clips of Jess with her family as she traveled the world and visited doctors.
“Between the two we escaped to explore the world as much as possible. At the end of two years I was about to get it all clear again when they found the Melanoma spread to my Brian and I had several tumors on the brain,” he continued. “So I started radio therapy on my brain.”
Jess shared that the treatment “worked” and her tumors was “gone.” In January she completed her treatment and learned that she “Cancerless.”
“Every day is a privilege when you were told what I was told, and when you’ve gone to the places I’ve gone in my head,” read the headline. “The fear never disappears completely, I see my consultant this week and the next round of audit scans is due to be soon. So the scancsibiet will raise its ugly head again.”
He continued: “But I never forget how lucky I am here and I will continue to live my life, to explore, to celebrate everything, to soak it all up by my favorite people. Because we are here for a good time, not a long time and you never know when someone or something will pull the rug out under you.”
