The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, says he had a “shrewd” exchange with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the China summit.
Both leaders spent 45 minutes in the Russian leader’s car – after which Modi posted a photo of his journey with Putin’s compliment.
“They were at home … They felt comfortable there, and so they continued the conversation,” Putin’s press said.
The meeting took place after the scenes of the couple when they held the Chinese XI Xinping for the Shanghai Cooperation Summit, which is regarded as a challenge to US President Donald Trump and US dominance.
Trump imposed us tariffs of 50% on Indian goods as a way of punishing Delhi for the purchase of Russian oil and weapons.
Tariffs – among the highest in the world – include 25% punishment with Russia, which are a key source of war in Ukraine.
India, a vital US strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region, did not reveal the signs of stopping its purchases, and the Putin Society in Tianjin is observed in the context of Trump’s threats.
Until recently, the US was the largest trading partner in India.
For his part, Putin faced the term set out by Trump, and agreed to hold peace talks with the President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelensky.
Russia has stated that there was no plans for such a meeting.
Speaking at the Tianjin summit, Putin thanked the Chinese and Indian leaders for the support and efforts to “promote the Ukrainian crisis”.
In his speech, Putin also stated that “understanding” at a meeting with Trump in Alaska last month was “hopefully moving in this direction, opening the way to peace in Ukraine.”
In February 2022, Putin launched a full -scale invasion of Ukraine.
On August 22, Trump said Putin gave Putin a couple of weeks to give an answer before the US had taken steps.
It was the last in the series of ultimatums and terms he issued to the Russian leader who ignored them.
Earlier, Trump said he could decide Ukraine’s war in one day.
