The former Bater of South Africa with Villiers has shared his thoughts on the recent retreat of Ravichandran Ashwin from the Premier League Indiana (IPL). De Villiers stated that Ashwin should have stayed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), noting that he never felt in other franchises.

De Villiers believes that Ravichandran Ashwin should have stayed with Chennai Super Kings. The old baton added that team retention decisions are complex and that Ashwin will always remember as a yellow sweater boy.

“Incredible skill. A huge player and icon in India. He won so many games for Team India and CSK over the years. He played to other teams, but he never felt set in these teams. In my opinion, he should always have been to CSK.He was obviously not him, as many things went into this withholding, all kinds of team selection.

Ashwin represented Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Rising Pune Supergiant and Punjab Kings during his IPL race. His most notable success, however, came with Chennai Super Kings, where he began his IPL trip and played a key role in the victories of the consecutive title in 2010 and 2011.
