Princess DianaBrother, Charles Spencerpays tribute to her sister 28 years after her death.
“Flowers we cut this morning from Althorp gardens for the island,” Spencer, 61, wrote through Instagram on Sunday, August 31. “Always impossible day.”
Alongside the message, Spencer shared a picture of a bouquet of pink and white flowers and another image of the private island where Diana is buried at the Althorp estate in West Northamptonshire, England. Charles has been the keeper of the estate since 1992, after the the death of his father. John Spencer.
Diana died at the age of 36 in a car accident in 19 in Paris. She was survived by her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harrywhom she shared with King Charles III. In 2024, Diana’s brother revealed that he visited his grave “almost every day.”
“And, of course, she is buried at home,” said Charles on an episode of Good morning Britain. “Yes, she’s, and I’m going more or less every day. Last week, one of his nearest childhood friends came and was on the island. And that was so nice.”
The island where Diana is currently buried is accessible in a boat, without access to the general public. At one time, there was a bridge that linked the island to the estate – but Harry, now 40, shared that it had since been removed to protect the privacy of the family.
“The bridge had been moved, to give my mother privacy, to keep trespassers away,” Harry wrote in his memoir 2023. Spare.
