The Chicago mayor signed an order on how the city will resist the potential repression of immigration that threatens Trump administration.
“We do not need and do not want the unconstitutional and illegal military occupation of our city,” said Mayor Brandon Johnson, Democrat. The order directs urban agencies on how to respond to possible immigration protection actions.
Trump has already launched about 2000 troops in Washington and threatened to extend the order in Chicago, which, he said, “mess”. There are also reports that the administration plans a splash of federal immigration agents to the city.
The White House press secretary called Johnson’s order as an “advertising trick”.
The order is the latest section in the escalation hostility between the White House and the state of Illinois and local officials over a focus and immigration.
It requires that Trump and federal agents “landed with any attempts to deploy US Armed Forces” in the city.
The order also redorates a number of existing urban politicians, including requirements for law enforcement agencies to wear body cameras and determine information, as well as a ban on wearing masks.
Immigration and Customs Execution Officers (ICE) are sharply criticized in other cities for concealing their identity.
Johnson said the city authorities would help residents understand their rights if they face immigration, while allowing local officers to participate in joint patrols with federal agents.
Local officials say more than every five residents are immigrant, and more than half of Latin America. It is unclear how much they live in Chicago without official documentation.
Trump, Republican, said that the third largest city in America “Murder Field”, arguing a crime in the city is an emergency.
Its threats deploy the national guard were described as abuse of governor Illinois Jb Pritzker.
“Donald Trump is trying to make a crisis, politicize the Americans who serve in shape, and continue to abuse his power to distract from the pain he causes in working families,” said the Democrat Packer.
White House press -secretary, Ebigale Jackson, said the Chicago officials are fighting the guerrilla crime.
“If these Democrats focused on remedying crimes in their cities rather than doing advertising tricks to criticize the president, their communities would be much safer.”
