FIRST ON FOX: The Congressional Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus is holding its second-ever meeting on Wednesday, where its leaders are expected to unveil a set of “principles” that will guide the group in its mission to cut government spending.
They outlined eight goals, some practical and others more symbolic, in an attempt to keep the meeting in sync with the DOGE advisory group created by President-elect Donald Trump.
“The federal government must serve the interests of taxpayers, and taxpayers are best served by a lean, efficient, transparent and accountable bureaucracy,” the first principle reads, according to a draft memo obtained by Fox News Digital.
The document also proposed both lofty and smaller goals. “No amount of waste, fraud, abuse, duplication or administrative bloat is too small or too large to correct.” DOGE Caucus leaders have previously focused on “low-hanging fruit” to begin their mission, such as unused federal office space owned by agencies with telecommuting policies.

The memo calls attention to such employees, noting that they and any federal regulations or agencies “shall demonstrate effectiveness for and responsiveness to taxpayers, and without creating unnecessary costs or burdens.”
Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., who co-founded the caucus, told Fox News Digital, “We have articulated our vision in a transparent way that is concise and relevant to every American.”
Co-founder Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas said, “The mandate is clear: Every dollar spent in Washington must directly benefit the people it serves, prioritizing transparency, accountability and efficiency.”

The caucus also called for eliminating “existing federal agencies, programs, rules, regulations or functions that do not provide value to taxpayers” unless they can be reformed.
DOGE Caucus leaders also signal a strong focus on abolishing the regulatory state with the clause: “All rules and regulations must be based on statute. Congress makes public policy, not unelected bureaucrats.”
The third co-chairman of the group, deputy chairman of the conference of the House of Representatives of the Republican Party Blake MooreUtah Republican, said of their scheme: “The DOGE caucus has wasted no time in organizing our members and developing a clear vision of what we hope to achieve, and these principles outline how we plan to achieve it. Now is the time to rein in wasteful federal spending, streamline our bureaucracy, and make Washington work better for Americans.”

The drive to cut government spending has been met with surprising enthusiasm by members on both sides of the political aisle. Several Democrats have already joined the caucus, and at least three are said to have attended the first meeting.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy were on Capitol Hill late last year to discuss the goals of their DOGE panel with lawmakers.
