The Texas father was hurt medical episode and died trying to save his teenage son, who was killed in an accidental shooting involving his own brother, according to authorities and a local report.
Police responded to a shooting at a Texas City home shortly before 1:30 a.m. and found 17-year-old Joshua Gonzalez dead on arrival, Texas Police Department said.
An investigation revealed that Joshua Gonzalez’s 15-year-old brother “accidentally discharged the firearm,” killing the 17-year-old, police said.
“The victim’s father, Julian Gonzalez, was tragically killed while attempting to save his life,” police said.

“He did so much for so many people. Now he is gone. I know this world will feel it. He touched many hearts. He did a lot for the community,” said Melo Salazar, Gonzalez’s friend and business partner. station.

Police said detectives questioned the 15-year-old brother and later released him pending further investigation.
Family and friends told FOX26 they are still concerned about the welfare of Gonzalez’s 15-year-old son after the tragic incident.
“All of that trauma and pain and questions and what ifs and guilt and self-blame and all of that, even though it was just an accident,” Salazar said.
