Late nursing influencer Hailey to schoolhusband, Matthew to schoolshows the raw and real side of his mourning journey five months after his wife death.
Matthew took to Instagram On Wednesday, August 27, to share clips recorded on the baby monitor in Son Crew Room. In one video, Matthew could be seen rocking a crew to sleep as he wiped tears from his eyes. Another clip showed Matthew spreading in the chair with a crew resting on his chest.
The emotional video, which was set to John MayerThe song “You Gonna Live Forever in Me,” ended with a snap of a lit candle next to a picture of Hailey and a tribute reading “in a loving memory of Hailey Marie Okula, 08/07/1991 – 03/29/2025.”
In the headline, Matthew wrote, “We’re coming up on 5 months without Hailey. I promised I would be transparent and shared the good and the bad, so here it is. Some nights I cry in the dark, wishing she could be here to catch, see, to live the life she worked so hard.”
Hailey died suddenly at the age of 33 On March 29, shortly after the crew was born through Division-C, due to the complications of birth, Matthew confirmed at the time. “With the heaviest hearts I share the devastating news about the unexpected pass of my beautiful wife, Hailey Marie Okula,” wrote Matthew through Instagram. “Words cannot convey the depth of the loss I feel. Hailey was more than I could ever dream of in a wife and partner. She was lovely, clever, active, passionate, reliable, and above all else, incredibly faithful. For almost 13 years, she stood by my side indirectly, she was even in line.

Matt/Instagram SchoolHailey, who launched her new RN degree program in 2019 and used her platform to support newly graduated nurses, was open for her struggles with infertility before announcing her pregnancy in September 2024.
“Hailey’s strength was unprecedented. Words cannot describe how badly we wanted to be parents. After years of infertility battles and a long, challenging IVF process, we were delighted to be expecting a crew,” Matthew continued. “Hailey faced every obstacle with so much courage and love – even though her body had gone through so much, she never waved.”
He concluded, “I will never forget the moment I broke down, apologizing for the toll that the process would take. My face caught my eyes, and said, ‘We’re a team, and we’ll come through this.’ That was Hailey.
