The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI), the Vice President Rajeev Shukla, has finally opened the controversy involved in Mumbai Indians (MI) staring Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rajeev Shukla also revealed how the BCCI reacted after Rohit Sharma fans made hard life for Hardik Pandya after he joined the Champions at IPL 2024.
Indian Hardik Pandya’s Indian star directed the Gujarat Titans (GT) to the IPL triumphal in his debut season in 2022. It seemed that Hardik would create a new legacy with his state franchise, as he took them back to the final in 2023.
Your daily dose of cricket!
However, although things are going very well for him to GT, the SUV decided to return to his former franchise (the Mumbai (MI) Indians) in the 2024 season. This arose as the greatest transfer in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hardik Pandya was also appointed Captain of the Mumbai Indians, replacing the legendary Rohit Sharma, and this decision encountered a strong disapproval of the fans.
The new pattern of me was set in almost every ground of the IPL 2024, even at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and in one of the games, Sanjay Manjrekar had to tell the fans to “behave” in the launch. This controversy affected me badly when they finished the season with a wooden spoon in their bag.
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, while talking about the incident, said that Board officials contacted Runder Hardik Pandya to check him after the hostility he faced.
However, Rajeev Shukla added that Rohit Sharma was not to blame, as he did not cause it and praised Hardik for manipulating things well.
“When these incidents occur and fans do things like this, although the players are smart enough; however, the BCCI people go to the players to motivate them, saying that they do not worry,” Shukla said in a YouTube interview for the UPP20 League.
“In the case of Hardik, Rohit Sharma’s fanbase did not like it. But the question is done. Nor did Rohit provoke them, never, or he knew Hardik.
While talking about the future of Cricket Hate, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said that the format will never die.
“I don’t think any format will die. The England series was all tests. Before, people used to say that the test cricket was junk. But so many people saw this series, I didn’t even ask! Stages were full to the edge. After this series, I felt that the test cricket would go a long way. This is the same for hatred,” he said.
