How can you choose between the fate of your family and the fate of your whole country?

British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton faces an impossible position in Pester – Her husband, Dr. Alex Anderson (Ashley Thomas), is kidnapped while doing medical aid work in Guiana France and holding a hostage. The hijacker (Corey Mylchreest) Call? Abigail’s direct resignation from his post as Prime Minister.
Although this situation is incredibly unique and specific, it dramatizes a feeling that many viewers will understand – the need to choose between work and family. So many of us sacrifice for our careers, but how many sacrifices are too many? And is it wrong to care passionately for what we do for a living, even if it comes at the cost of our personal lives?
Fortunately, most of us do not face the consequences of life or death in our career decisions-but seeing them played out in such a dramatic way means extremely gripping TV.

Prime Minister Dalton’s chief foil Pester is the President of French Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy), South-right leader who is interested in playing nicely with her partner in Britain. But soon, she realizes that the kidnappers could also pose a threat to her site.
The above pressures for a career and family are even more intensively applied to women, and seeing two women in rare jobs of tremendous political power deals with the public scrutiny of all their stages is fascinating. Delpy and Jones play each other brilliantly, all showcasing the complexity and emotional depths that bubble just below the surface of the stock facades that they must show to the world.

NetflixThe two women, although on the other sides of the political spectrum, are subject to intense and misogyny opinions by the public, and they treat it in very different ways – and as the show’s circumstances draw them closer together, they all learn from the other.
