New bodies found near the woods of chocolate

Nine bodies were exhumed from fresh graves suspected of being associated with the notorious hunger in Kenya.

In one of the worst cases of mass death cases associated with the cult, in 2023 more than 400 bodies were found in the remote forest of chocolate, deep into the coastal city of Malini.

It is believed that they were followers of the self -proclaimed pastor Paul Mackenzi, who is supposed to call them to starve to death.

These exhumations were ordered in July after the disappearance of some children caused a new probe. Prosecutors said 11 people were arrested in connection with this case, including three, who were the followers of McCanzi at the time of the “Characchol”.

The latest discoveries seem to confirm the fears raised by the government at the beginning of the year, which cult can still be active.

At the site of exhumation in the village of Kvi Binzar, five bodies were found near the woods of Shakakhol on Thursday and four more bodies on Friday.

“We have not exhausted the search; the area is very, very large. Therefore, we expect more organs,” said government pathologist Richard Nestor on Thursday.

“This is addressed to members of the public who may have lost their loved ones or who may suspect that their loved ones are missing to report to the Malini district hospital. We have a Red Cross table where their details will be taken, and their DNA samples will be taken.”

The exhumation is expected to continue 18 graves on Monday.

In July, the Kenya Director of State Persion stated that they believed that they may be “hungry and suffocated as a result of the adoption and promotion of extreme religious ideologies.”

Hussein Khalid, a human rights activist and the CEO of vocal Africa, witnessed an exhumation on Thursday.

“The first body that was found on its own was put there recently – two to three weeks ago. But the other four appeared to have been there for a while and were in a state of decomposition,” he said BBC.

He said the situation on one of the graves, hinting at the foul language.

“The remains were not found, but as if days ago, someone, some people or some group, probably removed the corpse that was there,” Mr. Khalid said, adding that only pieces of baby and women’s underwear were left behind.

“This has sent a cold message that there were women and children or children.”
