The Pentagon created a new medal for service members located on the southern border to help federal law enforcement agencies with the president Donald Trump Repression on illegal immigration.

Members of the service will now receive a Mexican medal on the border defense border (MBDM) instead of the Armed Forces Medal (AFSM), as they previously earned for the support of customs and border protection at the border, the statement said.
