The last time England won a test game in male ashes, Barack Obama was in his first term as President of the United States, and the United Kingdom was the first year of a coalition government.
It was January 2011, Mitchell Starc turned to the left and right, and England ended with a 3-1 ash series victory, while Graeme Swann directed the players in a spray style celebration dance.
But since then, 15 tests have passed between Australia and England and have not been able to win a victory. They have achieved a draw in the last two, but the global record reads 13 losses in one of the most one side that were late.
Of course, the Chirping has begun ahead of the next series in November, but why wait until then to witness a contest that in a particular sport would probably be stopped by the referee after the first day of the first test.

Of course, there are many reasons why New Zealand is so dominant over Zimbabwe, but black caps should receive credit to take on the African side when the crash of England with them in Trent Bridge in early summer was the first in trial cricket since 2003, when a certain Jimmy Anderson debuted.

And speaking of Jimmy, or actually, “Sir” Jimmy, as we should say, this ashes tour 2025/26 will be the first time that England has not had it inside and around the squad this century.

Everyone recalls that Jimmy was a large part of the 2010/11 victory, which Mitch Johnson told Mitch that “Shhhhh” before and after taking a Wicket, but just as Stuart Broad wrote the 2021/22 series, as he involved covid bubbles, perhaps Australia should write the defeat by 3-1, as they had the largest series.
What about a drawn series? You know, those we have had for male ashes in the United Kingdom the last two times in 2019 and 2023, not to mention the epic recently concluded between England and India, disputing the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
Well, the last series of male ashes in Australia was the 1965/66 series, which saw three shared games and a victory for each side.
Forget about the ashes on one side, it’s time to finish sixty years of injuries.
